The Zayed National Museum is located in the northern part of Saadiyat Island, the most iconic island in Abu Dhabi. Specifically, the museum is set in the Cultural District, next to the Louvre, Guggenheim, Natural History Museum, Manarat Al Saadiyat, the Abrahamic Family House, and New York University Abu Dhabi.

What Does Zayed National Museum Contain?

The museum was built with the vision of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan to revive Emirati heritage. It features six galleries spread across two floors and a special space for temporary exhibitions that reflect the museum’s identity and tell the story of the UAE over 300,000 years. In addition, it houses a wide collection of historical pieces from across the country and artworks shared and gifted by both local and international communities, all of which enhance the cultural landscape of the United Arab Emirates.

Highlights of the Zayed National Museum Exhibits:

The Abu Dhabi Pearl – One of the oldest known natural pearls in the world – highlights the deep-rooted history of pearl diving in the Arabian Gulf region.

The Blue Quran – Recognized as one of the most remarkable pieces in the history of Islamic art.

The Ancient Marjan Boat – A result of the first research collaboration between the Zayed National Museum, Zayed University, and New York University Abu Dhabi.
